Job Purpose

To direct and navigate different finance departments and develop an in depth understanding of the company's financial operations to make sure the company complies with external regulations and internal policies which impact the strategic and financial future of the company, and drive valuable information and insights to management.

Key Accountabilities 1

Strategy

Participates in the development of the departmental strategy in line with the functional strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies across Finance departments.

Ensures that departmental strategies and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of all Finance departments.

Policies, Processes and Procedures

Participates in the development and recommends improvement on Finance department policies, and procedures, and manages the implementation to ensure all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled.

Budget

Oversees the consolidation and recommends the Finance department budget and monitors financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

Projects

Leads and guides project management teams in the planning, organising, managing, and controlling of various projects to ensure that the project cycle is completed meeting agreed project parameters (cost budget, timelines, scope, and quality), standards and objectives.

Job Specific Accountabilities

Directs and oversees through staff and different finance functions (treasury, costing, budgeting, compliance, reporting) to ensure compliance with group policies and procedures. 

Coordinates with different departments to ensure efficient and effective flow of financial information to support the decision-making process.

Directs the company's financial plans, policies and procedures, internal controls, preparation of annual budgets, monitoring of cash flows and maintaining fiscal records to meet deadlines on timely manner with high accuracy of information.

Oversees and monitors all mergers and acquisition deals to ensure compliance with group policies and procedures.

Understands the business to provide explanatory and predictive financial information to assess performance and make investment or organizational decisions.

Directs and monitors relations with existing banks to ensure smooth and professional development of relations with new and existing banks.

Monitors working capital levels vs. targets, cash, and debt balances to ensure compliance with group policies and procedures. 

Monitors accounts payable and receivable inventory levels to ensure smooth running of business.

Monitors employee's progression with Human Resources to secure candidates who will be an asset.

People Management

Manages the effective achievement of Finance departmental objectives through setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff to maximize subordinate performance.

Continuous Improvement

Stimulates subordinates and contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering international best practice', improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Reporting

Manages the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies, and standards.

Safety, Quality and Environment

Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude.
